Please be advised: Due to the extreme heat conditions forecasted for tomorrow (July 13), with temperatures forecasted to climb into the mid 40’s with the humidex, the Bison Athletics Club (along with the support from Athletics Manitoba) have decided to cancel the BAC Twilight Meet.This is being done out of an the abundance of caution for the health and well being of all athletes, officials, volunteers, spectators and any other people involved with the competition. The decision was made in accordance with Athletics Canada’s Extreme Weather Policy (which has been linked below).
Athletics Manitoba also advises all clubs, coaches and training groups to cancel training sessions for the day.
Athletics Manitoba does not sanction any activities that occur in conditions above 41 degrees (with the humidex) as per the policy linked above. Any sessions that take place are at your own risk and MUST take into consideration access to shade and water.
If the forecast changes throughout the day and temperatures drop below “extreme” conditions, groups may elect to train – however coaches are still strongly advised to plan accordingly and modify or postpone sessions.
