While there aren’t many concrete details available, we still felt it was time to provide what information we have in an effort to make sure that we’re all on the same page moving forward.
The current Government of MB COVID-19 Prevention Orders came into effect as of 12:01 a.m. on November 20, 2020. They will remain in effect, at least until 11:59 p.m. on December 11, 2020.
This likely won’t come as a surprise, but based on that information alone, we must confirm that there will be no competitions held in December. In a best case scenario, if we are able to get back to club training immediately at the end of these current orders, there would still not be enough time to host any events before the new year.
The University of Manitoba has confirmed that they will resume all suspended operations when the applicable restrictions are eased, which means we should be able to pick up where we left off. However it is important to note that during the first “re-opening” effort, as well as during the most recent shut down, the province categorized gyms and fitness facilities differently than all other sports and recreation activities. So, this means there is a good chance that will be the same order of operations this time around.
Once restrictions do start to lift, remember that our club and group training activities are NOT classified under gyms and fitness facilities. You will want to watch for “Sport and Recreation Activities/Facilities”.
Our staff and many of our clubs and coaches are staying optimistic about an Indoor 2021 competitive season. At this time we don’t know exactly when it will start, or exactly what it might look like, but we are committed to doing what we can to make it happen.
Once we are allowed to resume training, we will shift gears and start working with the University of MB to get permission to host events, as long as it is safe to do so.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
All the best and please stay safe.
