It’s finally time to review all of the incredible record-breaking performances achieved throughout the 2026 outdoor season!
Madisson Lawrence started things off in early May by scoring over 6000 points in the heptathlon for the first time in her career for a total of 6016 points, breaking her own record she set in 2023.
Within that same heptathlon she also set a new senior high jump record of 1.82m. The previous record of 1.79m was set in 1997 by Tammy Mahon.
Norah Wiley set a new U16 1500m steeplechase record at the Age Class Provincial Championships in June by running 5:04.86. The previous record was set by Margrett Watt in 2017.
Abdishukri Hassan set multiple records while representing team Manitoba at Legion Nationals this summer. The first record was the U16 1200m with a time of 3:11.79, which breaks the previous record of 3:13.05 set in 2012 by Jay Ort.
Abdishukri’s second record was in the U16 2000m with a time of 5:48.03 breaking the previous record set just 4 years prior by Nate Phillips.
Also at Legion Nationals, team Manitoba’s U16 men’s sprint medley team broke the provincial record, running a time of 3:41.48, with the previous record being 3:47.19. The team was made up of Simon Sewell, Arya Sharma, Micah Olusola and Abdishukri Hassan.
Reed Passmore broke the U20 decathlon provincial record in his first season competing in the decathlon as a U18 athlete. His points total of 6713 breaks the previous record of 6397 that was set in 1989.
Jordyn Davis has broken anther hurdle record, this time the U20 100m hurdle record in early June with a time of 13.83. The previous record of 13.88 was set in 1991 by Janna Nikkel.
Kaylee Robbins has set a new U16 javelin record of 39.19m. This impressive throw breaks the previous recod of 34.60 set in 2014 by Taylor Heald.
Vesta Orchard set a T20 long jump record of 4.18m in June which she later broke again in August with a jump of 4.23 at the Special Olympics National Summer Games. Vesta’s jumps are also pending national records!
Veronika Kolesnichenko, Ally Kowalchuk, Avery Penner and Sadie Maciura ran as an unattached Manitoba team to break the open distance medley relay record, breaking the previous record of 12:52.70 that was set in 1988.
Two teams set new 4x1500m relay records at the Toba Relays this summer. Starting off with a U20 women’s team made up of Claire Barske, Morgan Pachet, Rose Perreault and Lola Young-Sneep. They ran a time of 22:39.84.
The U18 men’s team that also set a new record was made up of Nathan Mangesha, Joel Thiessen, Abdishukri Hassan and Matthew Jason, running a time of 18:11.17.
Last but not least, Tyler Motkaluk, Kate Tobac, Reed Passmore and Lucija Rolfe-Maric ran a time of 45.78 at this years Toba Relays meet to set a brand new record in the mixed 4x100m relay.
