On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff here at Athletics Manitoba, we would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!
We also must once again thank all of you for your continued support during the past year.
We know it continues to be a challenging time and we truly hope everyone is able to have a safe and enjoyable holiday season. We encourage everyone to take time to rest and hope that you can connect safely with your loved ones.
Please note that the Athletics Manitoba office will be closed from December 22nd through January 4th.
One final(?) word on the Health Orders for 2021….
The current Manitoba health orders which are in place until at least January 11th say that for sports can continue to have practices and games, but no tournaments are allowed. This means there are no expected interruptions to holiday training.
There have been ongoing discussions as to whether a track meet is a tournament or not. At this point the U of M is interpreting it as a tournament, which means this would have an impact on the Bison Grand Prix # 1 scheduled for January 5th. We have submitted an appeal/proposal to public health officials (through Sport Manitoba) to allow meets of this size to happen and we are also looking at other ways of hosting some competitions in a potentially smaller format. As always, once we have more details we will forward them.
Enjoy the season and we look forward to seeing what 2022 will bring!
Warmest wishes,
Athletics Manitoba
