Day 3
Congratulations to Jay Ort, who picked up his 2nd Gold Medal on Day 3 of the Legion Youth Championships in th U16 800m with a time of 1:58.51.
Madeline Beauvais finished 4th in the U16 Hammer with a throw of 45.50m, which is a personal best and a pending Manitoba provincial midget women’s record.
Sasanie Wanigasekara finished 5th in U18 Triple Jump with a jump of 11.41m.
Day 2
Manitoba picked up its second medal at the Legion Championships in the Men’s U16 Sprint Medley Relay. The team of Alexandre Rougeau, James Teschuk, Thomas Walser and Jay Ort got the Bronze medal in the relay with a time of 3:46.69.
Sasanie Wanigasekara placed 4th in the long jump with a jump of 5.48m, and Chad Enns finished up 6th in the U18 Octathlon with a point total of 4780.
Day 1
Canadian Legion Youth Championships began in Charlottetown, PEI today and Manitoba is off to a great start with a Gold Medal in the Men’s U16 1200m. Jay Ort won the 1200m in a time 3:13.50, which pending verification would be a new Manitoba provincial record. Congratulations Jay!
Jennie Baragar-Petrash finished 4th in the women’s U16 1200m with a time of 3:46.58.
Tyra Duma made the U16 100m final and finished 7th in the final with a time of 12.70. Tyra also finished 6th in the triple jump with a jump of 10.75m
Eric Guy qualified for the U18 110m hurdles and then finished 5th in the final with a time of 14.65.
Chad Enns and Robyn Wear have completed Day 1 of their Combined Event. Chad finished the day in 7th place in the Octathlon and Robyn currently is in 8th place in the Heptathlon.
