Athletics Canada has officially released the National Return to Competition Guidelines.
Athletics Canada has developed the Back on Track: Return to Competition Guidelines as a tool to assist in developing a responsible return to competition. It is important that all members review these guidelines and understand how they will affect future competitions.
The Athletics Manitoba Staff and Board of Directors have made the decision that Athletics Manitoba will NOT take the lead role in organizing or hosting any competitive events this summer, however CLUBS are able to host some small events.
Athletics Manitoba will review sanctioning applications and would approve up to a total of 4 “Mini-Meets”. (Aka: Twilight, Grand Prix or Summer Jam style events).
In order to ensure safety of our members each Mini-Meet can only include a maximum of 4 competitive events and must align with current Provincial Health restrictions with a maximum of 100 participants allowed. This number must include all volunteers, officials, coaches, athletes, and spectators.
It is also important to note that there will be NO competitions permitted at the University of Manitoba, as competitions/events on campus are not approved by the University of Manitoba during Phase 2, which has now unfortunately been confirmed to extend until the end of August.
Alternatively, competitions may be hosted at other locations such as Selkirk or Brandon, however it is up clubs and event organizers to contact the facilities in question to confirm any restrictions and availability.
The National Guidelines as well as the additional Manitoba guidelines have been shared on our website and distributed to all Club contacts and potential Meet Directors.
As soon as any competition dates are finalized they will be posted on our Events Calendar along with the registration details.
