Congratulations to the following athletes that recently set Manitoba Provincial Indoor Records.
Tracy Towns, running for the University of Illinois set a new Indoor U20 1000m record (2:49.16) while placing 3rd at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational, eclipsing Nicole Edward’s record of 2:49.51 set in 2004. Tracy is currently ranked number one in Canada in both the U20 800m (2:07.87) and 1000m.
Daxx Turner set a new U20 Triple Jump record at the Boeing Classic with a jump of 14.79m, breaking the record he set (14.78m) at the Jim Daly Bison Classic one month earlier. Daxx is currently ranked number two in Canada in the U20 Triple Jump.
Manitoba Bisons Men’s relay team broke the U20 4x100m record at the Boeing Classic. Their time of 43.97 broke the previous record of 44.06 set back in 1991.
Dylan Barnych set a new U16 Weight Throw (7.26kg) record with a throw of 19.51m at the Boeing Classic, breaking the record he established at the George Tanner Memorial in December, He also set a new U16 Weight Throw (9.07kg) record at the Regina Indoor Games with a throw of 17.45m.
Madisson Lawrence set a new Indoor Pentathlon record (3948 pts) at the CanWest Championships, breaking her own record set a month earlier at Golden Bear Open (3824 points pts).
Winnipeg Optimist Athletics Women set a new U18 4x200m record at the Jim Daly Bison Classic with a time of 1:45.59. Team members were Zoe Nonato, Angela Jiang, Katrina Stefaniuk and Mikayla Dalkie.
Winnipeg Optimist Athletics Men set a new U18 4x400m record at the Athletics Manitoba Last Chance in December with a time of 3:29.78. Team members were Jayden Bryant, Kirk Cadman, Graham Nash and Fischer Zemliduk
