Youth Championship wound up today in Ottawa with some more great performances from Manitoba athletes.
Congratulations to Julia Zrinyi on her second Gold medal. Julia won the 800m in a meet record time of 2:08.73.
The U18 Women’s 4x400m relay team picked up a silver medal with a time of 3:51.75, which broke the Manitoba Youth Provincial record. Team members were Julia Zrinyi, Amy Andrushko, Erin Teschuk and Melanie Baran.
Merveille Madianga placed second in the U16 Men’s Long Jump with a jump of 6.50m, and Sasanie Wanigasekara placed second in U18 Women’s Triple Jump with a jump of 11.55m. Both athletes broke Manitoba provincial records in their events.
Samantha Allegro won Bronze in the U18 Pole Vault with a jump of 3.30m, and Robyn Wear placed 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.13m.
The U18 Men’s 4x400m relay team placed 4th in a time 3:35.66. Team members were Ryan Scott, Ryan Croy, Levi Neufeld and Brayden Schindell.
Tegan Turner had advanced to the Women’s U16 200m final, and placed 5th in a time 25.77. Congratulations to all athletes on their performances.
Results from Day 2 of the Youth Championships
Amy Graceffo won the bronze medal in the U18 Heptathlon with a point total of 4390 and Caila Kucheravy was 5th was a total of 3965
The U16 Women’s Sprint Medley Relay team also picked up a bronze medal with a time of 4:16.63. Team members were Janine Zajac, Robyn Wear, Tyra Duma and Tarina Ready.
Some great performances have been turned in by Manitoba athletes at the first day of the Youth Championships being held in Ottawa.
Congratulations to Julia Zrinyi who won Gold in the U18 1500m with a time of 4:35.11. Erin Teschuk was 5th in a time of 4:40.33.
Tegan Turner, representing Nelson McInytre School placed second in the U16 100m final with a time of 12.44, and Robyn Wear of Team Manitoba placed 7th with a time of 12.70.
Two bronze medals were picked up by Team Manitoba’s relay teams. The U16 4x100m team of Janine Zajac, Rachael McLeod, Tyra Duma, and Robyn Wear finished 3rd in a time of 50.24 and the U18 4x100m team of Sasanie Wanigasekara, Amy Andrushko, Katie Staub and Mercy Bera finished 3rd in a time of 48.11
Our U18 men’s 4x100m team was 4th in a time of 44.14. Team consisted of Brayden Schindell, Alhaji, Mansaray, Ryan Scott and John Mar Francisco.
Amy Graceffo currently sits in 3rd place after Day 1 of the U18 heptathlon with a point total of 2610, and Caila Kucheravy is in 5th place with a point total of 2350.
