Over the past week, we have been working with our clubs and officials community to coordinate a summer competition schedule based on the current restrictions.
This list of dates is now available on our website event calendar.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- The events coming up on Friday and Saturday (July 9th and 10th), are small invitational events for our senior athletes to help us get organized and troubleshoot any potential issues. As a result, these two competition dates are not open for general registration.
- Competitions starting July 14th onward, will have the normal online, TrackieReg system set up.
- We have a few members currently trying to achieve performances required for selection to the U20 World Championship team. Athletics Manitoba has focused on creating a Qualifier series for their events.
- Bison Athletics, Tough Track and Winnipeg Optimist have worked to provide opportunities for other event groups.
- As per University restrictions, we are only allowed to have 25 people onsite at the U of M at any time and they are NOT ALLOWING SPECATORS at this time.
- This means each competition opportunity will have a series of STRICT regulations to manage registration, arrival, warm up, and departure protocols.
- In all cases there will also be a limited number of officials and volunteers.
- Each competition date will have a very limited number of events and while there are certainly multiple days of competition in a row, we have tried to alternate between track and field events in an attempt to reduce the strain on our officials and volunteers.
- Certain competitions dates MAY occur at other facilities (ex: Throws, Pole Vault)
- Competition procedures, registration deadlines and schedules, will all be shared online as they become available.
LATE or ONSITE registrations will NOT BE PERMITTED this summer. All registrations must be done online, and members should expect that all heats/flights will be established DAYS in advance in order to establish appropriate schedules and arrival/departure protocols.
We ask in advance that all members have patience with any/all competition organizers. We will be working with very strict restrictions that will undoubtedly change partway through the summer.
We are committed to hosting a series of events to support our athletes, but it certainly isn’t business as usual quite yet.
ATHLETICS MB SUMMER CHALLENGE
The AM Summer Challenge has currently been scheduled for August 13-14th. The intent of this competition, is that it *should* be a FULL (normal) two day competition.
If the Provincial restrictions or Facility restrictions do not allow for a regular two day schedule of events, we will look at extending the competition over the course of the week in order to allow for all events to occur.
Updates and details will be provided later in the month, once we have a better indication of what the Provincial Health Orders and Facility restrictions might be at that time.
Stay tuned for more details, but of course please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.
As always, we’ll do our best to provide all the necessary info as soon as it’s available!!
