Final Day of Track saw Manitoba pick up two more Gold Medals, accompanied by two more WCSG records. Sam Vincent won the men’s 3000m with a WCSG record time of 8:31.21, and Melissa Kitching won the women’s 400m hurdles with a WCSG record time of 61.53.
Paul Rydberg picked up a Silver medal in the pole vault with a jump of 4.00m, and the men’s 4x400m relay earned a Silver medal with a time of 3:16.61. Members of the team were Jamie McMaster, Dylan Ostberg, Joel VanKoughnet and Matthew Fitkowsky. The women’s 4x400m relay was 4th in a time of 4:06.66.
Graham Woo finished 4th in the pole vault with a jump of 3.90m after having to withdrawal due to injury. Terrence Sampson finished 5th in the men’s 400m hurdles in a time of 56.47, Alexa Matwyczuk finished 6th in the shot put with a distance of 9.99m, Nicole Dubois finished 6th in the women’s 3000m in a time of 10:50.82, and Thomas Miller finished 6th in the men’s 3000m in a time of 8:52.44.
Day 3 saw Manitoba pick up another Gold medal. Megan Paracholski won the women’s 800m in a time of 2:08.47. Her time sets a new WCSG meet record.
The men’s 4x100m picked up a silver medal in a time of 41.95, while the women’s 4x100m team earned Bronze in a time of 47.32. The men’s team members were Ben Allen, Michael Akins, Wilfred Samking and Kevin Trapmore. The women’s team members were Sade Ogungbemi, Mallory Waters, Megan Paracholski and Melissa Kitching.
Max Cote won a bronze medal in the men’s javelin with a throw of 53.85m, Karen Ferris finished 4th in the women’s discus with a throw of 37.87, Sam Vincent was 4th in the men’s 800m in a time of 1:53.66, Ben Allen was 5th in the men’s long jump with a personal best jump of 6.69m, and Madison Stewart was 6th in the women’s hammer with a throw of 40.69m.
Both Brendan Curasema and Terrence Sampson qualified for the final in the men’s 400m hurdles which goes Tuesday.
The Western Canada Summer Games started Saturday in Kamloops and Manitoba got off to a great start with Sam Vincent’s gold medal performance in the men’s 1500m. Sam’s time was 4:01.30. Eric Thacer placed 5th with a time of 4:05.63 and Thomas Miller was 6th with a time of 4:06.71.
Amanda Gundrum picked up a silver medal in the Women’s triple jump with a jump of 11.17m and Courtney Van de Kerckhove placed 5th with a jump of 10.96m
Alex Allen tied for 3rd in the women’s pole vault with a jump of 3.40m, and Sarah Boila placed 5th in a count back, as she also jumped 3.40m.
Matthew Feldshun place 5th in the men’s triple jump with a jump of 12.85m and Jolene Dupuis was 5th in the women’s javelin with a throw of 34.18m.
Paul Rydberg is in 3rd place in the decathlon after day 1 and Graham Woo is 4th.
Matthew Fitkowsky and Dylan Ostberg both qualified for the 400m final, and Matthew place 4th in the final with a time of 49.35 and Dylan was 6th in a time of 50.51.
Wilfred Samking was 4th in the 110m hurdle final in a time of 15.88 and Megan Paracholski finished 6th in the women’s 1500m in a time of 4:38.10.
