Athletics Manitoba is fully committed to the health and safety of our membership. As such, we are not yet ready for the resumption of sanctioned activities.
You may have noted earlier this week that Athletics Canada has established the Back on Track Task Force to help guide a safe and healthy return to the sport of athletics in communities across Canada. As one of the Provinces who had begun drafting our return to sport plans earlier this month, we are a contributing member of this Task Force. The Task Force will be holding it’s second meeting on Friday May 22, with the expectation of publishing the national Back on Track guidelines by the end of next week.
Even with the recent updates on Phase 2 of the Restoring Services plan, we still anticipate that we will be required to obtain approval from the Chief Public Health Officer prior to any official resumption of activities.
We appreciate your patience and understanding in knowing that we are working diligently to create framework that gets us Back on Track soon, and more importantly, that ensures the utmost safety for all of our members.
The full Back on Track National and Provincial guidelines will be published as soon as they are available.
Thank you and stay safe!
