The agenda notes the following elements will be discussed: screening, equipment and lifecycle and cost sharing, membership fees for Pee Wee and Bantam members and sanction revisions. At this time there is no documentation to share on any of these topics. The purpose of putting them on the AGM agenda is to get feedback from membership on these specific issues.
The screening (criminal record check requirements for coaches) requirement was discussed at the May board meeting but a draft of the policy was not approved. This issue will be discussed at the AGM and the board will approve a policy at the July board meeting. Please note that club coach leadership has been briefed on this topic already.
Equipment, lifecycle and cost sharing, membership fees and sanction fees/process are all linked together. Athletics Manitoba is in the process of collecting inventory and costing data in order to understand the cost of equipment purchase and maintenance as well as the true cost of events. This process will be explained and outlined at the AGM and feedback will be collected regarding the type of information members would like to see. The data should all be collected by the end of the summer and meetings will be planned in the fall to develop/gather feedback on cost sharing and fees moving forward. Brian Walker, Athletics Manitoba Treasurer will be involved in the forecasting for this project.
