Athletics Manitoba is once again pleased to present its annual Coaching Super Seminar!
This event is a great professional development opportunity for school/club track and field coaches, as well as multi-sport coaches!
Our special guest presenters will be Dr. Moses Bernard, a movement performance chiropractor and only Kinstretch certified chiropractor in the entire Southeastern US; Alex Gardiner, an elite track and field coach with a strong strength and conditioning background, and Cole Scheller, the University of Manitoba Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Link to Presenters’ Bios.
Some additional information about Dr. Moses, he has a track and field background as an athlete, and is not only a trained USA Track and Field coach, but also a weightlifter, chiropractor, and rehab specialist. He has worked with the NFL, NFL Players Organization, MLB and has traveled with the Toronto Blue Jays. He will be running a number of practical sessions and will apply his movement philosophy and education directly to Track and Field Event Groups.
While he works with his clients to help them recover from current/past injuries, he always aims to show clients how to minimize joint degeneration and how to become not just injury-free, but injury PROOF. This really is an amazing professional development opportunity for all coaches but ALSO might be a great opportunity for some of us to learn some tips on taking care of ourselves!
As noted above, we also have a great line up of strength and conditioning content! Cole Scheller will be leading sessions for developing strength programs for Junior High/High School Track and Field programs, and will look at ways you can help prepare your athletes to successfully transition into a University program. Bison Speed & Power Coach, Alex Gardiner will be leading sessions on his research into the Strength Transfer for High Performance Speed Development on Saturday.
In conjunction with the conference, Athletics Manitoba is also hosting an NCCP Club Coach-Endurance course, which will be led by Sport Manitoba’s NCCP Coach Developer of the Year, Sheldon Reynolds.
Most importantly, don’t forget that ALL conference registrations include our appreciation/professional development round table reception on Friday evening! This event is being hosted at the Shaw Park Clay Oven, with plenty of food and drinks!
Finally our Western Canada Summer Games Prep Squad athletes have been invited to take part in this event by attending unique, holistic training sessions throughout the Saturday. These sessions will include some technical work with our Team staff, as well as nutrition and mental prep sessions led by Sport MB expert staff.
