Day 5 Final Day
Two more bronze medals today for Team Toba. Nathan Labbe took bronze in the Men’s Long Jump with a jump of 7.24m and the Women’s 4x100m won the bronze medal in a time of 47.05.
The men’s 4x100m finished 4th and the 4x400m finished 6th. The women’s 4x400m finished 4th.
Daniel O’Donnell finished 6th in the women’s high jump and 8th in the Heptathlon, only 6 points out of 7th place.
Garth Suppes was 5th in the men’s shot put with a distance of 14.12m and Josh Gundrun finished 7th in the men’s long jump with a jump of 6.87m
Day 4 Update.
On a sunny but very windy day in Charlottetown, Team Toba had some more good results.
– Melanie Gregoire won the Bronze medal in the 2000m steeplechase with a time of 7:04.48.
– Carly Paracholski set a new Provincial Youth record in the heat of her 200m with a time of 24.51. This breaks a 29 year old record that was held by Tanya Brothers. Congratulations Carly. She finished 7th in the A final with a time of 24.94.
– Megan Paracholski finished 8th in the 800m A final with a time of 2:15.28.
– Ryan Kneisz finished 4th in the Special Olympic 200m A Final with a time of 26.13 and Joseph Anderson finished 7th with a time of 26.63.
– Karen Ferris finished 7th in the Women’s discus with a throw of 38.29m and Kristen Mackie was 8th with a throw of 34.90m.
– Both men’s and women’s 4x400m relays qualified for the final on Friday
– Quin Ferguson won the B final in the 200m in a time of 21.64, and Travis Toet won the 800m B Final in a time of 1:56.59.
– Nathan Labbe and Josh Gundrum qualified for the final in the Long Jump, and Amanda Gundrum qualified for the final in the Women’s triple jump.
– Meaghan Woo and Jennifer Campbell qualified for the B final in the 400m hurdles, as did Matthew Fitkowsky and Zach Durand.
Day 3 was supposed to be a day off, but pole vault was suspended due to darkness on Tuesday evening and was re-run completely on Day 3.
– Sarah Boila finished 10th with a height of 3.30m
Day 2 Update
Team Toba had some great results on Day 2.
– Team Toba won 2 silver medals in the 400m. Quin Ferguson won the silver medal in the men’s 400m with a time of 47.32, and Carly Paracholski won thesilver medal in the women’s 400m with a new MB provincial Youth record time of 54.95. Congratulations to you both.
– Josh Gundrum finished 4th in the men’s triple jump with a personal best jump of 14.61m, and David Walford was 6th with a jump of 14.07m.
– After a grueling two long days, Arthur Buchanan finished off the decathalon by winning the 1500m and placing 8th overall. He also tied for 1st in the high jump, which is reminisant of another Manitoban decathlete who many years ago, won the decathlon high jump and 1500m at the Canada Summer Games. Rhys Lautenschlager finished 10th in the decathlon.
– Garth Suppes finished 8th in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 45.62.
– Kieran Moolchan was 2nd in the 110m hurdle B Final and Wilfred Samking was 5th.
– Kim Bordun finished 3rd in the 100m hurdle B Final and Amanda Gundrum was 6th.
– Both men’s and women’s 4x 100m relay teams qualified for the final with the fastest qualifying times.
– Danille O’Donnell qualified for the High Jump final.
– Alastair Brown qualified for the 1500m final
Athletes arrived in PEI for the second week of the Canada Summer Games, one day ahead of Hurricane Bill. Fortunately Bill wasn’t as bad as was expected and we only got some wind and rain. Track events got underway on Monday under rainy skies with light to no wind.
