Day 1 on the track was a hot one, great performances all around. Team Manitoba rounded up the day with 1 bronze medal, a few personal bests, and a lot of final round advancements. Here is a detailed breakdown:
- First and only medal of the day (Bronze) comes through Brooke-Lynn Boyd in the Javelin! She will be looking to build on the momentum in the shotput on Tuesday August 1st.
- Bryarre Gudmundson and Keara Andrew both came away with huge personal best in the Hammer Throw.
- Tegan Turner advances to the 100m A final on Thursday August 3rd with second fastest time overall, 11.84s.
- Matthew Therrien, Regan Hofley, Caleb Friesen, and Vesta Orchard all advanced to the 100m A final.
- Brian Yallits, Stefan Rheno, and Brianna Tynes all advanced to the 100m B final.
- Victoria Tachinski with a strong race, advances to the 400m A final.
- Tayo Babalola, Simon Berube, and Luc Deleau all advance to the 400m B final. Tayo ran a huge personal best time of 57.60s
- Sophia Mbabaali advances to the 400mh A final.
- John Shortt and Sarah Smith advance to the 400mh B final. Both running new personal best times.
- Jared Allary came away with a 1m personal best in the hammer throw.
- Sasanie Wanigasekara and Tyra Duma both advance to the Long Jump finals.
- Finally, both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams posted solid times to advance to the A final.
